Grow old with me! The best is yet to be. – Robert Browning
Dear Members and Friends:
Welcome to our 2020-2021 Season! It takes more than a few microbes to keep our good members down! We have rethought our entire approach to our meetings moving further, and will be outlining how you can be a part of our meetings online!
We have totally revamped our website, and would love for you to go online and check it out at www.nybrowning.org. We will continue to integrate a more online friendly availability to our content, with added new videos, pictures and newsletters of past meetings! Keep tuned.
Through the help of local teachers from Clinton and Xavier HS we have expanded our participation in our High School outreach and have had an abundance of young students attending our meetings this year. We hope that this can continue through our online meetings, and I will be acting early to contact all of the teachers to see how we can seamlessly continue our HS programs, and expand participation.
With HS curriculums often cutting poetry completely, this outreach program and our annual HS Poetry Competition guarantees that students will not only be studying poetry, but that of Elizabeth and Robert’s.
I have been contacted by many teachers and they have expressed an extreme gratitude for the poetry contest as it has afforded them an excuse to sneak the poetry back into our New York City High Schools.
I am personally obligated that this continues, and we will need all of your support to guarantee that it does. One can only imagine what life would have been like if we had not been afforded the opportunity of poetry in our lives. Let’s not let the kids down.
So think about telling any friends interested in poetry about The New York Browning Society and encouraging them to join. If you’ve been to a few meetings and have not yet joined, now is the time to do so!
It would be great for all of our current members when renewing to add a donation so that we can continue the legacy of the Browning’s for the future. We’ve done a lot of hard work to get to where we are, but we are not out of the woods yet, we will need your continued support to guarantee New York’s oldest literary society will continue forward for future generations.
This society has seen many changes over the history of its existence, and we are at an exciting new precipice. It is very vital we continue forward and with your help, whether joining as an official member for the first time, or renewing your dues and donating this holiday season, it would be a great and much needed relief for the Society!

We are a not-for-profit so donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for your participation and support for The New York Browning Society.
